This month we’ve been blessed to find some great videos of how people are harnessing technology to improve their world. Five videos (from Togo, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda) especially stood out. Combined, they give a great sense of how African nations are embracing tech. Key themes are collaboration, entrepreneurship, election information, mobile success, and high Internet costs.

Flat6Labs – Accelerating Entrepreneurship: Flat6Labs is an Egyptian Startup Accelerator that provides startups with seed funding, mentorship, office space, business education. The space has already helped launch a variety of apps.

Digital Evolution for the Kenyan Elections: Kenya is preparing for its general elections in less than 2 months. Tech companies in the country are actively launching elections related products to meet a growing demand for information about the candidates and their parties.

Internet Costs Blamed for Digital Divide: The delay in the completion of the national fiber optic backbone cable is affecting efforts to bring down internet costs. The National Fiber Optic project meant to connect all major towns to the internet hit a snag in 2011 following corruption accusations during its implementation.

Tigo Rwanda – Celebrating 3 years of Smiles: This advert highlights how Tigo has rapidly gained market share in the past three years of operation.
