Connect Africa Zambia
This video comes from Zambia – a landlocked nation that does not have coastal access like neighboring Tanzania. Fortunately, groups like Connect Africa are working toward connecting rural areas to communication services. Connect Africa’s goal is to have new areas in 10 nations connected by 2015 with the Zambian network serving as an example.
Connect Africa’s plan is simple, yet effective. Communications centers open just as a simple phone run by a local operator (similar to a franchise). Then, as local demand increases, the center will expand into a full-featured telecenter with phone, fax, and Internet. All costs are covered by multiple ISPs and/or the user and rely on the latest technology.
