Startup Knight, a competition for early stage South African software-based tech startups, is back for a second year. Entries are open until 24th October and winner will be announced the following week.
This year, from September 30 – October 4, 2013, Googlers in Kampala, Johannesburg, Lagos, Tunis, and Accra will host events to equip entrepreneurs with the skills they need to build and scale internet businesses.

Senegal hosted a Forum National sur la Gouvernance de l’Internet on September 19, 2013. The event, with three key panels, was organized by ISOC Senegal under the theme of economic development.

In the past two years, there have been more than 50 Kickstarter and Indiegogo projects to help improve African ICT access and/or literacy. Most have successfully raised money within the past year.

At least 5 African Startup Weekends are scheduled for the second half of 2013. The events are designed to develop innovative businesses that serve local needs.
AfriLabs is a network of 19 technology hubs in 13 African countries. Members recently met to discuss the future of Africa’s innovation ecosystem.
